Okinawa Ballad Rock Band GLACIER

Allow me to introduce a new band GLACIER.
GLACIER consists of 4 members origianally from Okinawa Their music has an original sound with a mixture of club music, pop, ska, Spanish taste plus a hint of a nostalgic 80's tune.
They will release a new single Kanasambana [CD+DVD].
The reason I specially introduced this song in my blog is because their DVD features English subtitles which is very rare for a Japanese artist's DVD with commentaries. For further information of GLACIER, please visit their official website.
By the way, for those who don't know what Okinawa is, it a southern prefecture of Japan which consists of hundreds of islands. Japan is probably not known as a tropical island but Okinawa is nothing but tropical. It has its own history apart from the mainland of Japan as well as their own language which is incomprehensible to Mainland Japanese speakers.
People from Okinawa can be recognized by their tanned skin and strong facial features. Many talented celebrities are from Okinawa such as Namie Amuro, Yukie Nakama, OLIVIA, Gackt and Meisa Kuroki.
Okinawa is a very popular place to visit for vacation and it is gaining more and more visitors from overseas. If you have a chance to visit Japan, Okinawa should be considered in the visit too!

And not just the women are talented! Shoukichi Kina wrote Haisai Ojisan when he was 16 (it was a big hit later), went on to found the band Champloose, and was eventually elected to the Diet. I think he's pretty big in the DPJ now. Not many senior politicians are also rockstars!
