Select Your Currency At CDJapan
Jan 08,2008
If you're from a country that isn't Japan or the US, I'm sure you've probably had to translate the cost of a CDJapan order from yen to your own currency on at least one occasion. Well, say goodbye to calculating your own translated order totals, from today on out you can choose your own reference currency at CDJapan!

Choose from one of fifteen different currencies: US Dollars, Euros, UK Pounds, Australian Dollars, Canadian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollars, Singapore Dollars, Indonesian Rupiah, Korean Won, Mexican Pesos, Norwegian Kroners, Sweden Kronors, Russian Rubles, Swiss Francs, or Thai Baht

All product information pages, your shopping cart, and ordering flow will display your chosen currency along with the Japanese yen total. To change the reference currency either click "Change Currency" next to the item price on a product information page (like this one for Ayumi Hamasaki's "Guilty"), or select a currency from the pulldown menu on the shopping cart page.

Please note that prices listed in any currency other than yen are estimates, and are subject to change depending on the daily exchange rate. In addition, all orders will be processed in Japanese yen except cash payments, which may be made in either yen or US dollars.

That's all for now, see you next week!

I always had to calculate the currency myself. This is going to be very helpful to a lot of people. Thanks to all those improving the already great CDJapan website.

Hi Dan.

This is a great idea for many foreigners.
With reason I was notorious for some sort of change on the website but I did not know exactly what it was until I note at the end of each item and not only that, also highlighted in colors the numbers in yen(orange) and dollars(green).

Good job, CDJ Team.

Thanks guys! We've had a lot of requests for this feature so I'm glad you guys are pleased with it!

Hey, that's nice! I didn't mind converting on my own, but I like that additional choices are given. The colourful bolding is new too, isn't it? Unless I just never paid attention and missed it before. XD

Btw., there used to be a reference exchange rate "at the time of order (US$ X = XXX.XX yen)" on the order confirmation page, is that gone for good? I guess it is difficult, logistics-wise, to automate the inclusion of the respective currency (when someone does not choose USD). Maybe the USD rate at the time of the order should still be included at the bottom? Alternatively, to avoid confusion, it could only be displayed when the default currency is USD. Once again I'm sure there's a logistics problem with automating the display.

Ah well, can't have everything, right? The new feature surely is convenient, so I'll get over the lack of sample exchange rate, haha.

Oh yeah, keep up the good work, and thanks for keeping us up to date with the CDJ blog. Strange that I didn't notice it's existence until last december; I would have stopped by more often to drop off some thanks here and there. :)

San> Thanks and glad to have you around!
I talked to our dev team about bringing back the reference currency display on our order confirmation page and it sounds like they can bring it back without too much trouble. It'll take a little bit of time but should be back up soon.

Thanks for being interested in the comfort of foreigners. I really apreciate it. I hope some day my country appears in that currency list. Thanks!
by Andres : Jan 17,2008
Hi Andres,
Where are you from? I can't guarantee anything but I'll definitely ask if it's possible to add your currency.
by Dan : Jan 17,2008
I'm from Colombia. My currency is Colombian Pesos. Thanks for your help. You are so kind and useful. Your service is the best. Thanks.

P.S: I know guarantee is not assumed, but only for paying atention to customers makes it great.

Hi Andres,
Thanks for responding. I had our team look into Colombian Pesos and unfortunately it looks like the service we use to receive conversion rates doesn't list Columbian Pesos.

Sorry that we can't do anything for you this time, but I'll make sure we keep Colombian Pesos in mind if we ever change our system!

Mr. Dan,

Great idea!

But too bad my currency(Philippine Peso) wasnt inlcluded.
by Lin : Jan 19,2008
Thanks for the comment Lin! I'm sorry we don't list Philippine Pesos as well. We won't be able to list them using our current system, but I'll have our team look into other places to get exchange information so that maybe we can work something out in the future.
