Back, across the Pacific in my hometown of Anytown USA the local Japanese residents would gather together around this time of the year for the annual Obon festival. For a couple of days out of the year you could go out into the streets of Japantown for dancing, food, taiko drum performances, and more.
You can imagine my surprise when I came to Japan and found that Obon for the Japanese people meant visiting cemeteries, empty trains, and a complete lack of new releases. So, if you're wondering why there hasn't been much going on at CDJapan this week, it's Obon. We'll be back next week for our regular blitz of Japanese releases.
This should help in the meantime.
Now in a limited, "watch the time fly" edition.
