Unique Japanese Food Collaboration

Here are common food combinations which Japanese eat
normally which could be surprising overseas.

Noodle Bun (Yakisoba Pan)
yakisoba.jpeg

This is a very popular in Japan and can be found at any bakery. It's normal to us but it should sound weird to you because it's basically spaghetti in a roll. It's like a hot dog to us.

Blueberry Cheese Cake Kit Kat
bluberrycheesecake.jpeg

Kit Kat in Japan released many challenging flavors in the past. Blueberry Cheese Cake was nice.
But some flavors are very adventurous like soy sauce Kit Kat, soda Kit Kat, vegetable juice Kit Kat and apple vinegar Kit Kat.

Soy Sauce on Sunny Side Up Eggs
I assume most people overseas use salt&peppar on their sunny side ups but the most favored ingredient in Japan for their sunny side up eggs is soy sauce. And No.2 is ketchup.

Black Sesame Ice Cream
blacksesame.jpeg.jpeg

This has to be one of the best flavors.
Black sesame ice cream has become a pretty common
flavor nowadays. At first, as you can see from the photo, grayish black is not an attractive looking color for a dessert. It looks like concrete, but once you try it, you will be
surprised how sesame matches ice cream.

Yakisoba pan looks so delicious!!

I always put soy sauce on my sunny side eggs!!

I love the dish where the rice is wrapped in egg. I think it's called Omurice.

bobby>Yes, chicken rice wrapped in egg is omuraisu. (Omlette Rice) That's a Japanese favorite too!
Ken>You can substitute yakisoba with other noodles too. We also have spaghetti buns too.

HIII Manababy and everyone!!

Long time no see T___T . . . I've been really really busy...haven't even had time to sleep as I'm doing my final year of interior design school. How is everything going? I couldn't help but to comment on the sesame ice cream. I went to this Japanese restaurant (run by Japanese people) recently and they made the same ice cream. It was the EXACT same colour as in your picture! It's so good...do you know how to make that? The dark concrete colour is so amazing...
Also, that Windows 7 burger is so amazing...not sure if Japan has Harvey's hamburger but in Canada they have this annual event where you can get a free hamburger on a specific day and I know I can eat that whopper since I had either 3 or 4 Harvey's hamburgers that day. Maybe Japanese people just have small appetites? Or maybe I'm just a very very hungry asian guy with a North American appetite :)
I must try the yakisoba on a bun. I've never thought of that before. Clever!

The Noodle Bun looks delicious, great idea! I'll skip the KitKat, but I'd like to try the sesame ice :D

Btw, sorry for the off-topic question; any chance CDJapan will carry this newly announced 2010 Kashiwagi Yuki (AKB48) Calender?

wohjai >Hey I missed you.
Interior Design school sounds interesting.

The color of the icecream is black because they use
black sesame. You would need sesame paste to get that
color. Sesame paste should be available at either
a Japanese or Chinese supermarket.
I've never tried to make homemade ice-cream but
the easiest recipe I found is to just mix the sesame
paste with normal vanilla ice-cream.

And I've never heard of Harvey's hamburgers. But I looked it up
and the normal sized hamburgers look like a Big Mac in Japan.

3 or 4 hamburgers wow! That's amazing.
I hope you didn't get sick that day.

BarrieV> I checked up on our supplier
for calendars but the Yuki Kashiwagi calendar only sells at 3 stores which does not include our supplier.
I'm sorry...
We only have one supplier for calendars and can not order them from
any other suppliers at this point.
