Recently the Sengoku era has gained attention among the young generation in Japan. The Sengoku era was basically a period with constant military conflict.
The funny thing is, most fans are young women. It looks like the rage came from a game software called Sengoku BASARA. The characters are famous warriors from the Sengoku era such as Masamune Date and Yukimura Sanada. The good looking characters attracted many women's hearts and boosted the popularity.
Helmets and armors from the Sengoku era tend to be very uniquely designed so that the warrior could stand out from others at the battlefield.
Brand shops released T-shirts designed with the unique Sengoku era armors and helmets which are getting popular at souvenir shops.
Since Japanese men have lost power and strength along the years, this could be a good tendency for men to gain back their strength and get more energetic like the Sengoku warriors.

I am not sure why the Japanese love this Chinese historic novel "The Romance of The Three Kingdoms" so much. But these games are selling very well in Japan, resulting in many sequels and spin-offs. Sengoku Basara is basically Capcom's answer to Koei's popular series. Instead of the Chinese theme they used the Japanese Sengoku period.
Do you know why the Japanese have such a great interest in this theme? Because it's really interesting.
