Learning Japanese from manga sounds a bit dangerous, because so many of the characters behave unconventionally. For example, in Bleach, Rukia seems to think that "kisama" is a polite form of address in modern Japanese. Copying that could lead to trouble! On the other hand, anything which gets you reading kanji is good.

Sheepless> Yes, you have a good point.
Kisama should never be used in any conversation. Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, we need to be careful choosing which mangas to learn from. It's hard to distinguish whether some words are OK to use in everyday conversation or not.

Still, I think learning from Manga is a good idea, because it's more fun than textbooks, so you're more likely to keep reading. You just need to check what you learn against other sources.
Could I make a suggestion? I've read that some manga have furigana (apparently Yotsuba to! does, for example), and that's certainly helpful for learners. Could CDJapan indicate when a manga includes furigana? I guess those would mostly be the ones aimed at kids, but some of them will be enjoyable for adults too.

Sheepless> Actually most Japanese mangas have furiganas. I've actually have never seen a manga with no furigana. I just checked random mangas that my co-workers had in their desk and all of them had furiganas. So you can be sure that normally any manga will have furigana. We can not check every manga we sell on our site, but if you have one in particular that you want to buy, please tell me and I'll check on it for you!

Thanks, that's interesting. I only have two volumes of Japanese-only manga: one Azumanga Daioh, and Ichigeki Sacchu Hoihoi-san, and neither of them have furigana. I guess I just got unlucky.
