CDJapan: Now With More Japan
Sep 12,2008
Hey all, this week we've got two new announcements--one major and one slightly less interesting announcement.

First the interesting half, this week CDJapan is pleased to announce the arrival of our new Japanese items page "Wabi Sabi." Stop ordering cheesy knock off Japanese items, and take a gander at our spiffy selection of traditional Japanese goods. We've got stunning bamboo bags from one of Japan's top bamboo workshops, five-piece yukata sets for the Japanese clothing beginner, Japanese-style umbrellas some of which I'm told can survive hurricane winds, painstakingly recreated katana replicas, and even the cream of the crop of green tea.

Wabi Sabi is the latest permanent addition to CDJapan, and to commemorate its release we're offering a coupon campaign. Fill out the survey at the link below by October 11 and save 500 yen on items from Wabi Sabi. Be one of the first 500 people to place an order and we'll also send you a stylish bamboo bookmark for free.

If you're looking to make the jump from Neo-Japanesque to traditional Japanese, you've got to check out our new collection of items at Wabi Sabi.

Now regarding the other announcement, I'm sad to say that this is my second-to-last post for the CDJapan blog. After three years serving you through the CDJapan contents team and over two as your friend on the CDJapan blog, I've decided to to move on to something new. I'd like to take this time to thank CDJapan for providing a home for me for the last few years, as well as thank all of you for making CDJapan and the CDJapan blog a success. It's going to be hard saying goodbye to you guys!

Mihomiho also sends her regards, as next Friday will be her last day with CDJapan as well. Be sure to send her off with a nice warm thank you. Here's what Mihomiho has to say:

"Yes, I will leave here next week. I've been working here for nealy 4 years, and I'm sure I'll miss everyone. Thank you for talking to me on the blog! Communicating with you has been always nice."

And don't worry about the blog. After my final post next week, our very own Ms. Manababy (or just Mana!) will be taking over for me here. Be sure to say hi and give her a nice welcome on the 26th!

Well then, that's all for this week. I'll be back for my final post next Friday.

Wow, this IS sad. What the hell! Dan you were doing such an awesome job. But yes, you have provided me with lots of helpful information about products and Japan and I am truly grateful for your efforts. So what's up next for both you and Miho?

Note: Dazzle Vision's 3rd upcoming album is out November 21. Please notify the crew and get the info up for preorder. I emailed dazzle vision on their website and they actually reply!

Also, lemme know once you find out about that dir en grey inquiry!

I`ll miss the japanese vocabulary expansion from you my friend (we are left having your photo!!) but I wish you the very best in both of their lives. Was a pleasure to meet you and have this great blog to talk so many experiences. I`ll miss too much, too.
I hope our new friend Ms. Manababy have great success in the blog(maybe she help me in Mana-khemia games-Je,je-). GOOD LUCK GUYS.

P.S. WabiSabi Page = Excellent: Bamboo bags= expensive, Yukata sets=kawaii, Umbrellas=perfect for the Caribean, Bookmarks= NOT FAIR! ALSO FOR SALE PLEASE(only 500?)
by Ken007 : Sep 13,2008
Aw thanks guys. It's been a pleasure serving you as well and I'll try to stop by occasionally if I have time. Manababy will be able to handle all of your questions, and she's probably better at Japanese than I am (you know, being Japanese and all) so be sure to ask her stuff about that as well.

Jackson> You're very welcome! It's always great to hear that people enjoy the blog.

wohjai> I'll be moving on to another company, Mihomiho's going to take some time to relax before looking for a new job. And I'll get the ball rolling on your questions when I get back to work on Monday.

Ken007> Awe, I'm sorry! I'm sure Manababy will enjoy your company though! And yes, the bamboo bags are very expensive, but they look amazing don't they?

v.v>
Thank you very much (bows). It is sad to say goodbye to you, but yes, I think I need some change. Working at CDJapan has been a fun for me, for I could meet a nice person like you. I really appreciate.

Jackson>
Domo Aritagou, too. I’m happy that you enjoy the blog, and you like Japanese culture (^^)

Wohjai>
It was nice to talk to you on the blog. I like your taste of music (^^) Yes, I want to take some rest before starting a next job. Take care, thanks.

Ken007>
Thank you, Ken-san! I’m sorry . . . I will miss you. I will sometimes visit CDJapan blog and check if you are fine(^^)

wohjai + v.v> I had our team look into the Dir en grey promotion and, unfortunately, it looks like we won't be able to host the campaign (specifically, the fact that not everyone will get a bonus item/it's done by raffle makes it difficult for us).

wohjai> Do you have a link for the Dazzle Vision album? I couldn't find anything on their site, myspace page, mentioned on JAME, or in our database, so I wasn't able to look it up. Also, anything with a catalog number would be much appreciated.

-Dan
by Dan : Sep 16,2008
Dan> i see, so the only possible way to be in the draw to their promo stuff is by buying it in Japan or their site straight is it? yah i didnt have my hopes high anyways, its always the Japs who get the good stuff >.< haha, thanks for the info! Wehn are you leaving by the way Dan?
Wohjai> seems no luck for us! haha!
by v.v : Sep 16,2008
Dan> Sorry, but all I have is the email they sent to me. They said, as quoted, "3rd Albumの発売日は11/21です。" So it's probably in the late stages of recording.

I too could not find any other info, no name. Just a date. Well, I guess it'll show up sooner or later.

v.v> Did you get your Glass Skin package yet? Could you give me the dimensions of the poster it comes with? Cause it's B3 and I'm not sure about the size of that since it's usually B2. My shipment is coming in later so I won't find out till then. Thanks.
by wohjai : Sep 17,2008
v.v> I'll be leaving in two days. Regarding the promo, it's not so much that you have to buy it in Japan so much as that they'll only ship it to you in Japan. For some promos we can have them ship it to us and then ship it to you, but since it's done by lottery instead of everyone winning something, it'd be impossible for us to figure out which items go to which people. Gomen ne!

wohjai> OK, well then it'll probably be a little while before we get the info for it. Maybe sometime in October?
by Dan : Sep 17,2008
Miho>
Ken-san???? Oh! Thank you very much Miho-kun! It was be a great honor to me. Check the blog when you can and I will be here. I always liked your cute logo (^^) Je,je. I hope you have enjoyed the past days at the beach.
I will miss you, too.
And thank you again for the greetings.

Dan> Please give me a favor and let me see again the AKB48 Oficial Page. You still have the link?
Thank you.
by Ken007 : Sep 17,2008
wohjai> hey, i havent received my package yet~ waiting excitingly for it to arrive, damn! its gona be here soon , i'll tell you when i receive it later.
Dan> yah i understand haha, oh so on friday will be farewell for both you and miho?
by v.v : Sep 17,2008
Ken007>Do you mean this page?
http://www.akb48.co.jp/

v.v> Yep, Friday it is! We're even having a going away party.
by Dan : Sep 17,2008
Dan and Miho> *throws party confets* bye guys! Cheers! :D
by v.v : Sep 18,2008
Dan, before you leave. One last question. Would you consider CDJapan/NeoWing to be the largest online retailer for Japanese entertainment in Japan? Or is there another company that is bigger? If so, which? And where would you rank CDJapan?
by wohjai : Sep 18,2008
Oh! Yes. This is the page my friend. Something changed, but this is it. Thank you so much.

Happy going away party both of you!!!
by Ken007 : Sep 19,2008
v.v + Ken007> Domo! Extra party poppers and awesome party hats for you guys!

wohjai> No, we're definitely not the largest (actually by number of employees and office space we're pretty small) but we hold our own. Amazon's the largest online retailer pretty much everywhere and we're fairly small compared to them, but we hold our own quite well against companies with actual brick & mortar stores like HMV, Tower, and Tsutaya. I don't know what our rank is, but I can tell you we're doing really well for a company the size we are (we're still private so I unfortunately can't say how big we are).
