33rd Japan Academy Prize Winners!
"Shizumanu Taiyo" received the Picture of the Year of the 33rd Japan Academy Prize. The story is based on the true tragedy of Japan Airlines Flight 123, which crashed in 1985 and resulted in a total of 520 deaths and 4 survivors. It remains the deadliest single-aircraft accident in history.
Directed by Setsuro Wakamatsu, and stars Ken Watanabe of "The Last Samurai," and he wons the Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role of the Japanese Academy Prize.
This movie shows the ethic of an airline company which is directory linked with human life, by depicting Hajime Onchi, an employee of the national airline company, who served as the leader of labor union, and people around him.
