Japan Academy Prize - Picture of the Year 1978-2010

The Japan Academy Prize is a series of awards given annually since 1978 for excellence in Japanese film.

Picture of the Year 2010 is "Shizumanu Taiyo" starring Ken Watanabe.

The story is based on the true tragedy of Japan Airlines Flight 123, which crashed in 1985 and resulted in a total of 520 deaths and 4 survivors. It remains the deadliest single-aircraft accident in history.
