Mayonaka no Yaji Kita-san

A drug addict and a man suffering from dementia set out from Tokyo on motorcycle to cure their problems, leave their wives, fall in love, and find "the real" at Ise shrine . . . the only problem being they're starring in a period piece set in classical Japan! "Mayonaka no Yaji-san Kita-san" is the first film from director Kankuro Kudo, who lent his screenwriting tallents to other Japanese cult hits like Takashi Miike's "Zebraman," "Ping Pong," and "Go." Joining him are Tomoya Nagase from Japanese band Tokio as Yaji (the demented one) and Shichinosuke Nakamura, a legendary onna-yaku (man acting as female) from the classical Japanese theater scene as Kita (the drug addict). With this epic cast (including a supporting performance from Riki Takeuchi of "Dead or Alive" fame) and absurdist plot "Mayonaka no Yaji-san Kita-san" is a film to truly be experienced.

Pick "Mayonaka no Yaji-san Kita-san" now in regular or limited edition release (both include English subtitles)! Also be sure to check out the soundtrack by Zazen Boys and the feature film "Fantastipo" starring Taichi Kokubun also of the pop group Tokio!

We also have a number of new Japanese films coming up that include English subtitles. Check out "Ashura-jo no Hitomi," a clever blend of period-piece and horror available in both limited and regular editions, "Yomigaeri," a fantastic tale of ressurection starring none other than Tsuyoshi Kusanagi from Smap, and "Canary," a film about a boy coming to grips with the horrid conncetion between a cult and his family.
