Mind Game Gets Animated

"Mind Game (English Subtitles)" is a feature-length animation directed by Masaaki Yuasa and produced by Studio 4 Degress of "Animatrix" fame.

Based on the cartoon by Robin Nishi, this film employs various techniques, mixing traditional animation and photographs in a combination of action and violence. The plot is the surreal experience of a young man named Nishi who is killed by yakuza gangsters, returning to life inside the belly of a whale. When Nishi's girlfriend Myon takes him to a yakitori restaurant where she works with her sister, everything in Neshi's life changes altogether. Yuasa is one of the most talented and unique animators in Japan. He worked as a key animator on the hit TV series "Crayon Shin-chan" and "Chibi Maruko-chan" in the 1990s.

The DVD "Mind Game" is available in three editions (English Subtitles for main feature only): "Perfect Box [Pre-order only limited release]," "Special Box [Limited Release]" and "Regular Edition - Main Feature Disc Only."

Also check out the soundtrack album (music scored by Seiichi Yamamoto of The Boredoms, Rovo, Rasinban, and Yoko Kanno) and the making-of DVD "MIND GAME REMIX."
