Ogawa No Hotori (At River's Edge)

A live action film "Ogawa no Hotori (At River's Edge)," the third historical movie based on the novel series set in a fictional domain, Unasaka-han written by Shuhei Fujisawa comes out on DVD. This novel has been lauded as one of his most significant works among other works such as "Yamazakura" and "Hana no Ato." (Fujisawa is also an author of "The Twilight Samurai," "The Hidden Blade," and "Love and Honor.")

Plot: Sakunosuke Inui (Noriyuki Higashiyama) gets an order from his master to kill Sakuma Morie, a samurai who is his friend and his younger sister Tazuru's husband. If Tazuru (Rinko Kikuchi) pulls a sword on him to protect her husband, he has to kill her. Sakunosuke suffers from the inherent conflict between duty and sentiment. . .
