Space Battleship Yamato

"Space Battleship Yamato," a live action film based on the gold standard of Japanese anime "Uchu Senkan Yamato," comes out on DVD & BD on June 24, 2011!

The film is directed by Takashi Yamazaki of "Always: Sunset on Third Street" series, and Takuya Kimura (SMAP) and Meisa Kuroki play leading roles.

Collector's edition includes two bonus discs, Susumu Kodai's dog tag (replica), cell phone strap, two 3D photo cards & a photo stand, pass case, booklet, and storyboard book.

Plot: In the year 2194, mysterious enemy, the Gamilons, suddenly appear from outer space and drops meteor bombs upon Earth. Five years later, the Earth still suffers from radiation contamination caused by the meteor bombs, and survivors live underground. One day Susumu Kodai comes across a communication capsule from planet Iscandar, which reside 148000 light years away from Earth. According to the message in the capsule, they have a substance to remove the radioactive material on the surface of Earth. In order to get it, selected survivors take off for Iscandar in Space Battleship Yamato with only one year left before the radiation drives Earth to complete extinction. . .
