Achilles and the Tortoise

Here's a world famous direcor Takeshi "Beat" Kitano's latest film. This is the final film of his latest trilogy, "Takeshi's," "Kantoku Banzai! (Glory to the Filmmaker!)," and this "Achilles and the Tortoise." These films depict the director's inner self in various ways. Auteuristic approach Kitano has taken with "Achilles" is more eminent in comparison to his previous works.

The main character Machisu was born into a wealthy family and dreams of becoming an artistic painter in his childhood. One day, he loses his parents after the collapse of his father's business. Even through such a hard time, he pushes on to a higher purpose, of dedicating his life to art.

While in constant process of trial and error, he meets Sachiko who encourages him to follow his purpose and paint what he loves. They get married, and together they paint. However, their artworks do not gain any public recognition. Even then, they are resolute and their creative activities intensify, leading them to the destruction of the family. And then...
