Beat Takeshi Kitano's Kantoku Banzai w/English Subs!

Quentin Tarantino did it with "Kill Bill," now acclaimed international director "Beat" Takeshi Kitano is looking back on the films that formed his childhood in his brand-new film "Kantoku Banzai." That's right, the second work in Kitano's rumored three-part reflective film series that began with "Takeshis'" is out on DVD with English subtitles!
Once upon a time there lived a director named Takeshi who was particular good at making yakuza films . . . until the day he declared to never make them again. Searching for a hit, Takeshi goes from making samurai slashers, to 1950s retro dramas, cheesy sci-films to J-horror--each time giving up midway through before finally deciding on a love story (!?). But things aren't so good on planet earth, and just as director Takeshi thinks he's finally got it, unheardof dissaster strikes mankind. Maybe its a punishment from the heavens for making such horrid films!
Takeshi Kitano's "Kantoku Banzai" stars Beat Takeshi, Keiko Matsuzaka, Yoshino Kimura, Kayoko Kishimoto, Ren Osugi, Susumu Terashima, a wacky "Beat" Takeshi doll, and more! The DVD, including the main feature (with English subtitles) and three-minute short "Subarashiki Kyujitsu" (originally shown at Cannes) sees release November 11, 2007. Be sure to check out the 12-disc Takeshi Kitano DVD box set, out now!
