Noriko's Dinner Table w/ English Subtitles

Noriko's Dinner Table

"Noriko's Dinner Table," the award-winning second film in director Sion Sono's "Suicide Circle" trilogy is out now on DVD with English subtitles!

Taking place before, during, and after the events of the infamous 54-schoolgirl mass suicide that opens "Suicide Circle," "Noriko's Dinner Table" tells the story of a new recruit to the "Family Circle" with the purpose of shedding some light on the events of the first film. Noriko lives an unhappily quiet life with her parents and sister. Unable to bridge the divide between parent and child, Noriko lives vicariously through an online chatroom at the website haikyo.com. Eventually she runs away from home to join the "Family Circle," where lonely people are assigned to act out familial roles in order to establish the bonds that were missing from their original families. When one day she returns to her real family, they welcome her back with open arms . . . but she refuses and claims to be her online identity "Mitsuko."

Like it's predecessor, "Noriko's Dinner Table" deals with themes of alienation, identity, the generation gap, family, and suicide. The DVD came out February 23, 2007 with English subtitles.
