Otokotachi no Yamato

"Otokotachi no Yamato," the film adaptation of the novel of the same name about the bravery of soldiers and the final days of the Japanese battleship Yamato, is out now on DVD! "The Neighbor No. 13" star Shido Nakamura and more star in a fantastic film that is sure to set off the war history buff in all of us.

On April 7, 1940, the largest battleship ever and its crew of nearly 3000 men were dispatched on a suicide mission to stop allied forces from taking Okinawa. This is the story of that crew--those who survived, those who waited patiently at home for word from their loved ones, and those that this film was designed to remember on the sixtieth anniversary of the battleship's loss.

"Otokotachi no Yamato" comes in two editions: the standard edition with just the main feature and the limited edition which includes two discs worth of bonus and archival footage to get to the heart of the real story. Also check out the soundtrack by Joe Hisaishi ("Spirited Away") and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
