Akiakane Debut Full-Length

Akiakane

Japanese girl punk quartet Akiakane may be releasing their first full-length album "Kasumisou" on April 5, but they are most certainly not newcomers.

First off, Akiakane is the latest project from Moe, the former frontwoman for one of Japan's most well known punk bands Softball. With street cred already firmly established, Akiakane released the maxi single "On the Record" and mini-album "No White Supremacy" in the last half of 2005, both garnering the band the number one position on the Tower Records indendent music charts. They've toured Japan, America, Europe, and Asia, and the new album "Kasumisou" will be released first in Japan on Einstein records, with a later American release (in English) on Mike Park's Asian Man Records (samples available).

So, what's their secret? An orthodox blend of classic punk and enough conviction in their lyrics to drive the sound. These kids flat out rock. If you want a taste check out the Akiakane page on Einstein Records (including a blistering cover of Sex Pistols' "E.M.I.")!
