Rampo Jigoku

Rampo Jigoku

Japanese horror goes back to its feverishly phantastic roots in "Rampo Jigoku," coming soon to DVD.

"Rampo Jigoku" blends four suspense/horror short stories from the late Japanese gothic detective novel author Edogawa Rampo (a pseudonym based on the Japanese pronunciation of the name of his idol Edgar Allan Poe). The film features a fever dream of a detective tale, combining garish colors, creepy characters, boundry-detroying violence,, and a kind of absurdist logic into a cohesive story that has most Japanese film critics saying this was the best film of 2005.

This is thanks in no small part to the outstanding cast and crew of the film including Tadanobu Asano ("Ichi the Killer"), Ryuhei Matsuda ("Nana" "Gohatto"), Mikako Ichikawa, and Tamaki Ogawa ("Stereo Future").
