Beat Takeshi in Takeshis' (English Subtitles)

"Beat" Takeshi Kitano, the wonder-director and commedian who brought you "Zatoichi" and "Hanabi" is coming back to DVD with his new film "Takeshis'." "Takeshis'" is a thank-you card to the director's fans - while the story is perfectly accessible to everyone, the people who will enjoy the film the most will be people familiar with his earlier work.

At the focus of the film is Kitano himself, who plays the leading role of a movie star named . . . "Takeshi," or in other himself. However, the reality ends when Takeshi meets his blond doppelganger also named Takeshi (and also played by Kitano), resulting in a number of off-the-wall twists. The film stars the usual cast of Kitano's friends, including the ever-wonderful Ren Osugi and Susumu Terashima (fresh from his role in "Koshonin"). Each member of the cast plays at least two rolls which leads to comic results! Film also includes a performance from tap dance troupe The Stripes ("Zatoichi").
