From Up on Poppy Hill/ Kokurikozaka kara on blu-ray!

Blu-ray and DVD release of the latest Studio Ghibli masterpiece "From Up on Poppy Hill" (Kokurikozaka kara) directed by Goro Miyazaki ("Tales or Earthsea") and co-written by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki ("Spirited Away", "My Neighbor Totoro"). Music was composed by Satoshi Takebe and song was performed by Aoi Teshima ("Tales or Earthsea")!

Plot: In 1963 in Yokohama, Umi is a high school girl of 16 years old and lives in a house located on a hill overlooking the harbour. On every morning, she raises a signal flag which is "a pray for everybody to get a safe trip" as her father died on his ship during Korean war.
Meanwhile, the entire nation is going through a transformation to ready itself for the approaching Tokyo Olympic Game, and old building are destroyed for new ones. The old crumbling Culture Club "Quartier Latin" building inside Umi's high school is also about to be swept over by the transformation.Shun is one of student leaders who try to protect the beloved building, and they garner enthusiastic support from students. Then as Umi suggests, they begin their opposition by cleaning up the place. But this "clean up" will go further than they think...

Blu-ray includes many foreign languages (English, French, Chinese, Cantonese, Korean) and subtitles. Also comes with storyboard, script book, live of Aoi Teshima, PV, trailer etc. On first arrived first served system, charm set and sticker (randomly selected from 6 kinds) will be offered!
Also Blu-ray first press edition includes an illustration by Goro Miyazaki and a special DVD with interview, slide show of Yokohama, Aoi Teshima PV and Yokohama guide map.
We recommend you "Futari", the NHK documentary in which they followed Goro Miyazaki and his father during the production.
