I understood only Japanese traditional culture, such as Chanoyu(tea ceremony), waka/haiku(poem), Noh(performing arts), Sukiya-zukuri(architecture) can reflect wabi-sabi. But the author indicates "The Gleaners" and "The Angelus" painted by Jean-Francois Millet could also represent wabi. I have never come up with such an idea that wabi-sabi can be found in European culture until I read this book. The author provides the most profound and comprehensive understanding of wabi-sabi, I have ever known. He suggests they are more spiritual and fundamental disposition than we usually think, which originates from the principles of Buddhism(Zen) or Taoism.
