      An anime worth watching 5

If you are tired of the typical (and over-used) plot of earth getting destroyed and all humans being forced to live some some desolate foreign planet, such as Mars, then this is the anime for you. A light, and cheerful tale about a young girl named Akari Mizunashi, who goes to Mars to become an undine. It is in the future, and mars has been terraformed, but most of it is covered in water. Akari lives in a town that mimicks the "long gone" (at least in the future) town of Venice, called Neo Venezia. And so, gondoliers are the main transportation, and many girls like Akari are also learning to be undines, or already are undines. Anyways, Aria is definetely an anime that you don't want to miss! It stays close to the original manga, it has clear, and colorful animation, and a beautiful soundtrack, opening, and ending songs. I would reccomend this anime to anyone. Enjoy!

      Ciao ! 5

When you see who is the director of this series, you know that you can't be disapointed. And once you have watched the first episode, you know you were right. Don't expect any action here, this heart-warming show is for people who want to relax, to smile, to laugh and sometimes to cry a little bit. That's exactly what I like...

A Beautiful Start to the Series 5

I've been following ARIA since I first heard about the manga and was delighted to find out there was a series underway mid-last year, so buying the first dvd+box combo was great, considering all of the extras. However ARIA isn't for everyone - like other "slice of life" series (e.g. Haibane Renmei), ARIA is quite slow to begin and continues a slow pace throughout which is unusual but very relaxing, making it one of the series you can just sit back and watch. Very little mystery is included and very little action is included. The art for the series is soft and clean with lovely, detailed backgrounds. The characters are well cast and the soundtrack is also very impressive. The dvd itself has the first 2 episodes, 2 adverts and 2 extras on the disc which is decent for the price compared to some other series I've bought. Since I bought the first press edition, other additional extras include a box to house the first 3 volumes of the series; an 8-page booklet detailing characters and scenes; 2 colour postcards and a custom postcard binder to keep postcards from each dvd in. Personally I'm very pleased with this item, especially for the price - it's definately a series I'll keep collecting.
