This dark fantasy depicts the war between the Demon Lord's Army and condemned criminals sentenced to the punishment known as "Hero" -- the Penal Heroes. The director is Hiroyuki Takashima, who has worked as a key staff member on many productions including "Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation." Animation production is handled by Studio KAI, known for "Uma Musume Pretty Derby Season 3." -- To be a Hero is the worst punishment in this world. Those who commit grave sins are branded as "Heroes" and forced to fight the Demon Lord. Even if killed, they are revived, not even allowed the release of death. Zylo Forbartz, a former commander of the Holy Knight Order sentenced to Hero punishment, leads a Penal Hero unit made up of deeply dysfunctional individuals and races across the front lines. In the midst of brutal conditions, Zylo encounters one of the strongest living weapons, the Sword Goddess Theoritta. "When the enemy is annihilated, you shall praise me... and then pat my head." To survive, and to take revenge on those who set him up, Zylo forms a contract with the Goddess and throws himself into a hopeless world consumed by fierce battles and dark conspiracies.
