Description
Features English subtitles. "Mononoke The Movie: Chapter II - The Ashes of Rage" is now available on Blu-ray! Shortly after the fierce battle against the mononoke Karakasa, the Medicine Seller (Hiroshi Kamiya) once again appears in the Ooku. In the aftermath of the previous incident, changes have begun to take place within the Ooku. Otomo Botan (Haruka Tomatsu), who comes from a distinguished family and has succeeded Utayama as the new chief administrator, places great importance on discipline and balance and governs with a strict hand. As a result, a rift develops between her and Fuki (Yoko Hikasa), a self-made senior lady-in-waiting who has received the undivided favor of the Emperor (Miyu Irino), and the divide between them only continues to deepen. As preparations move forward to select a guardian for the baby born to Sachiko (Atsumi Tanezaki), the Emperor's official wife, a major development suddenly changes Fuki's situation. Fuki becomes pregnant with an "unwanted child", a source of trouble for Elder Councilor Otomo (Kenyu Horiuchi), who oversees affairs outside the Ooku, and one scheme after another devised by the men closes in on her. Conflicting intentions intertwine, and the schemes to "put out the fire" eventually spiral out of control. At the same time, a series of spontaneous human combustion incidents suddenly begins, with people bursting into flames and being reduced to ashes. Suspecting the work of a mononoke, the Medicine Seller attempts to bring the situation under control, but struggles against the mysterious apparitions, which move in groups and appear and disappear without warning. These apparitions are revealed to be the children of the Fire Rat. They do not merely attack people, but also appear to be searching for their mother. However, the mother Fire Rat herself refuses to reveal her form. Why does the Fire Rat attack those who target newborn babies? What tragedy lies behind the emotions of the Fire Rat, which continue to burn even as she sets herself aflame? To solve the mystery and cut down the mononoke, the Medicine Seller steps into the darkness infesting the Ooku in search of the three requirements -- "Shape", "Truth", and "Reason". Bonus video contents include a stage greeting held to commemorate the theatrical release, a collection of promotional videos (First Trailer, Main Trailer, Special Trailer -To no Maki-, 30-Second Commercial), the animation music video for the theme song "Hana Muso", and the animation music video for the ending theme "Katsubo". Comes in a special foil-stamped slipcase. Includes a Kobanashi drama CD featuring "Nami no Tomo" (cast: Tokita Saburomaru [Yuki Kaji], Saga Hiramoto [Jun Fukuyama], and others) and "Nanatsukuchi no Machibito" (cast: Sakashita [Daisuke Hosomi], Sudo [Koya Noda], Asanuma [Masaya Miyazaki], Kimura [Shinya Takahashi]), as well as a special booklet, a washi-style tack sticker, and a visual card featuring an original illustration by Yuichi Takahashi, Animation Character Designer and Chief Animation Director. *When viewing in an environment capable of 5.1ch audio playback, if the audio setting is changed from the menu screen while English subtitles are selected, the on-screen display and the actual audio switching operation may not correspond correctly.
