Mononoke (Theatrical Movie) Karakasa (English Subtitles)

Features English subtitles. Wherever the Medicine Seller appears, there are signs of a mononoke -- a new tale of "salvation" manifests here. "Bakeneko," a segment of "Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales" that achieved exceptionally high ratings when it aired in Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block in 2006, gave rise to "Mononoke," which has enjoyed enduring popularity ever since it was broadcast as a TV anime series in 2007. Now, under the direction of series creator Kenji Nakamura and with a powerful staff assembled around him, "Mononoke" has been reborn as a theatrical feature. In an age when the seed of a mononoke could take root in anyone's heart, a soul-stirring tale of "salvation" begins. The Ooku is a special place where beautiful and talented women are gathered from across the land to bear an heir for His Majesty, the ruler, while at the same time serving an important bureaucratic function. It is also a unique "society" governed by its own rules. Into this unusual world step two newcomers, Asa (Tomoyo Kurosawa) and Kame (Aoi Yuki). Blessed with both intelligence and beauty, Asa seeks to advance her career, while Kame hopes to find a place for herself in the Ooku she has long admired. From their very first day, these two complete opposites are made to take part in a "ritual" to assimilate into the group by offering "something precious to themselves" to the Water Goddess worshiped within the Ooku. The events that occur there lead to a bond forming between them. The elder Utayama (Mami Koyama) places the prosperity and continuation of the Ooku above all else and oversees the maidservants, but she hides something behind her expressionless face. Meanwhile, "something" gradually begins to envelop the women. Their emotions accumulate night after night, a strange sound like a spinning paper umbrella echoes from nowhere, and the maidservants begin to lose their reason as though possessed. Eventually, a decisive tragedy occurs. The Medicine Seller (Hiroshi Kamiya), pursuing the mononoke, proceeds to the heart of the Ooku, but the Sacred Sword capable of exorcising the mononoke cannot be drawn unless its three elements -- "Form," "Truth," and "Reason" -- are revealed. When the Medicine Seller comes face to face with the terrifying yet heartbreaking truth hidden within the Ooku, the ceremony of exorcism and salvation begins. Includes a special booklet, a washi-style tack sticker, and a visual card featuring an original illustration by Yuichi Takahashi, Animation Character Designer and Chief Animation Director. Bonus video contents include a stage greeting held to commemorate the theatrical release and promotional videos (Teaser / Teaser 2 / Main Trailer / Special Trailer -Omote no Maki- / Special Trailer -Do no Maki- / "Love Sick" Theme Song Animation Music Video). *When viewing in an environment capable of 5.1ch audio playback, if the audio setting is changed from the menu screen while English subtitles are selected, the on-screen display and the actual audio switching operation may not correspond correctly.
