今年5月に発売された、約6年ぶりとなる最新EP『Are U Romantic?』が、アナログレコードの祭典「レコードの日 2022」対象作品としてリリース! UAの解釈による現代のポップス作品。今作は2016年にリリースしたアルバム『JaPo』以来オリジナル作品としては約6年ぶりの作品。前作『JaPo』ではポリフォニーをテーマとし、サウンドやリズムは民俗音楽的なアプローチで、歌詞に関しても英語、奄美の方言やサンスクリット語、ガーナ語などを取り入れた "無国籍ポップス"を体現したコアな作品となった。そんな前作から一変、今作は日本を離れ、カナダに在住している彼女が日本との距離を置いて改めてJ-POPを見つめ直し、UAとして「今思うポップス(="ネオポップ")」を表現した作品となっている。ポップス楽曲を改めて作るというテーマのもと、今作EPにはJ-POP界で長きに渡って第一線で活躍する、岸田繁 (くるり)、Kj (Dragon Ash)、永積崇 (ハナレグミ) というベテランアーティストから、独特な立ち位置で常にオルタナティブな姿勢を貫くバンドGEZANのフロントマンであるマヒトゥ・ザ・ピーポー、さらに若い層からの支持の厚いJQ (Nulbarich)、中村佳穂など、ジャンルや世代を超えたアーティストが参加。マヒトゥ・ザ・ピーポー以外の他アーティストはコーラスなどで歌唱参加もしている。※本商品はレコードの日対象商品のため、商品のお届けは発売日当日以降になります。
