I think this is hands down the best super deluxe music box set of 2023, and this Japanese exclusive SHM-CD edition is the best version of this release. Not only does this box set celebrate what is arguably The Who's best album, but it also creates what is the closest we'll ever come to experiencing Pete Townshend's vision for the never release Life House album. I love how there is a graphic novel included that tells the story of Life House and the movie that was never made. There are so many extras tangible extras included here, it's crazy! The standout of course is the hardcover book explaining the history of this album and the Life House project itself. Plus, the ability to get all 10CDs in the superior SHM-CD format is what makes this the best version of this box set released. If that wasn't enough, we also get a Blu-ray Disc that contains surround sound mixes. The surround mixes really shine here. I've grown up with this album and the surround sound mixes are like hearing this album new for the first time ever, they're so well done, I was blown away. This release is sold out, but if you're lucky enough to get one, it's well worth it.
