リヒャルト・シュトラウス管弦楽作品集 [MQA/UHQCD] / アンドリス・ネルソンス
後期ロマン派を代表する作曲家リヒャルト・シュトラウス (1864-1949)は、大編成のオーケストラを駆使した交響作品やオペラでロマン派のひとつの到達点を築いた重要な作曲家。その代表的管弦楽作品を7枚に集成した新録音によるBOXセット。現代屈指の指揮者、アンドリス・ネルソンスが率いる"実際にR.シュトラウスが振った"ゆかりのある2つのオーケストラを起用。R.シュトラウスは1887年から度々ライプツィヒ・ゲヴァントハウス管弦楽団の指揮台に立ち、1907年には最初の公式客演指揮者に任命された。当時の首席指揮者ニキシュは、その最後のシーズン、1920/21年 (100年前!)にR.シュトラウスの交響詩全9曲のツィクルスをプログラムし、それ以降、R.シュトラウス演奏の長い伝統が築かれている。一方、1904年に大規模なアメリカ・ツアーを行ったR.シュトラウスは、"世界で最も偉大なオーケストラのひとつとここで素晴らしいコンサートを指揮した"とボストン交響楽団を讃えている。「ドン・キホーテ」にはヨーヨー・マ、「ブルレスケ」にはユジャ・ワンといった超一流の名手が参加している。グリーンカラー・レーベルコート。
