The "Symphony in Three Movements," which evokes a powerful vitality and is also somewhat transparent of the language of the primitivist era. The Symphony in C, known as one of the most classically written works of the neoclassical era. The Symphony of Psalms, in which chorus and orchestra are treated as equals in order to bring about a homogeneous sound. This disc includes three of Stravinsky's symphonies. This is the first recording of all three symphonies that Scholte performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra after he retired from the post of music director. [Performed by] Chicago Symphony Chorus (3), Glenn Ellin Children's Chorus (3), Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Conductor: Sir Georg Solti Recorded: November 1993 (1), March 1997 (2, 3) Orchestra Hall, Chicago
