[Machine Translation] Her music is a legitimate successor to Judee Sill, Linda Perhacs, Vashti Bunyan, and other non-major female singer-songwriter icons whose names have left their mark on music history, and her unabashed Dutch songs rooted in her life on her farm have captivated many listeners. Almost three years after her last album, "slapen onder een hunebed", which captivated many listeners, Paulien Rondou, aka Catbug, has arrived with her long-awaited third album. The theme of this album is wild birds living on a farm and its surroundings. Catbug was given a pair of binoculars as a gift, which inspired him to start observing wild birds, which in turn inspired him to create new music. Like the previous album, this one was produced and mixed by Aiko Devriendt. The recording took place in a studio owned by pianist Guy Van Nuyten. In order to keep the atmosphere of the album free of decoration, the band naturally kept the composition simple, but the less sound there was, the richer the music became. The result is a unique, dreamy, indie-folk record that is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell and Jessica Pratt. As with the previous album, this is one that I recommend to all good music listeners.

Judee Sill、Linda Perhacs、Vashti Bunyanを始めとした、音楽史にその名を深く刻む、いわば非メジャー系女性シンガーソングライターのアイコンたちを正統に後継する音楽、そして自身が営む農場での生活に根差した衒いのないオランダ語の歌で、多くのリスナーを魅了した前作『slapen onder een hunebed』より約3年。CatbugことPaulien Rondouの待望となる3rdアルバムが到着。本作のテーマは、農場とその周辺に生息する野鳥。双眼鏡をプレゼントされたことがきっかけで野鳥たちの観察を始めたCatbugは、そこから多くのインスピレーションを受け、新たな楽曲を制作するようになっていったのだと言う。前作と同じく、今回もAiko Devriendtがプロデュースとミックスを担当。ピアニストのGuy Van Nuyten所有のスタジオでレコーディングは行われた。装飾のないありのままの雰囲気を保つため、自然とシンプルな編成になったが、音が少なくなるほどにその音楽は豊かになっていったそう。結果としてJoni MitchellやJessica Prattをも彷彿とさせる、ユニークかつドリーミーなインディーフォーク作品が誕生した。前作同様に、すべてのグッドミュージック・リスナーに推薦したい一枚。
