大好評を博した初演から半年。2016年12月から2017年1月にかけて再演される舞台『刀剣乱舞』虚伝 燃ゆる本能寺(ストレートプレイ版)のDVD発売!! ――西暦2205年。歴史改変を目論む「歴史修正主義者」が過去への攻撃を開始した。対峙する時の政府は歴史の守りとして「審神者」なる者を過去へと派遣する。物の心を励起する審神者の力によって生み出された、刀剣に宿りし付喪神「刀剣男士」たちは、審神者と共に歴史を守る戦いへと身を投じる。ある日、彼らの本丸に新しい刀剣男士が顕現する。不動行光──戦国武将・織田信長が佩用し、彼に仕えた近習・森蘭丸へと授けられることとなる一振りである。不動行光は信長の愛刀であったことの誇りを顕わにするが、同じく信長を元主とする宗三左文字、へし切長谷部、薬研藤四郎らとうまく噛み合わない。近侍に任命された山姥切国広は、不動行光の参入により和の乱れた本丸を立て直そうと奔走する。そのさなか、審神者より天正十年──織田信長が果てた歴史的事件「本能寺の変」へ出陣の命が下だるのだった。大千秋楽カーテンコール、日替わり映像、初演DVDイベントダイジェスト映像、全景映像、バックステージ映像、特別企画! 茶請けを作ってみよう! を収録したボーナスディスク付き。ブックレット(カラー)封入。
