Description

Live action film based on the gold standard of Japanese anime "Space Battleship Yamato." Directed by Takashi Yamazaki of "Always: Sunset on Third Street" series. Stars Takuya Kimura (SMAP) and Meisa Kuroki. Plot: In the year 2194, mysterious enemy, the Gamilons, suddenly appear from outer space and drops meteor bombs upon Earth. Five years later, the Earth still suffers from radiation contamination caused by the meteor bombs, and survivors live underground. One day Susumu Kodai comes across a communication capsule from planet Iscandar, which reside 148000 light years away from Earth. According to the message in the capsule, they have a substance to remove the radioactive material on the surface of Earth. In order to get it, selected survivors take off for Iscandar in Space Battleship Yamato with only one year left before the radiation drives Earth to complete extinction. . . Premium edition includes a bonus disc with making-of, talk between the director and Takuya Kimura, press conference footage, event footage, and more (subject to change).
