This is an epic OVA and an instant classic... the characters design is phenomenal, the animation is top-notch, the story never fails to impress and the soundtrack is second to none. If you are going to watch only one anime, do yourself a favor and watch this one. My only gripe on this director's cut is that there are one or two changes in the placement of the soundtrack. When we see Himura in the action scene that gave him his first scar, the accompanying music from the original 4-episode OVA is gone. It was so fitting. Otherwise, it is a fine movie and it never gets old. It is one of the best anime ever produced.
