Schumann: Complete String Quartets. Piano Quintet & Piano Quartet

[Machine Translation] The world premiere CD release of the complete Schumann string quartets recorded during Juilliard's heyday in the analog era. This two-disc set is the complete Schumann project that the Juilliard String Quartet undertook over a four-year period in the 1960s, when the quartet was at its peak and Hillier was on viola, and includes three string quartets, plus the Piano Quartet with Gould and the Piano Quintet with Bernstein. The string quartet's rigorously polished and beautiful sound, exquisite ensemble, and logical sense of structure make for a performance that is the ultimate in string quartet ideals. The flexibility and flexibility of the musicianship is one of their trademarks, as they are able to make the most of the strengths of their co-starring musicians: the flexible and supple Bernstein and the sharp and concentrated tension of Gould. World premiere on CD / Recorded November 21, 22 & 24, 1964 at Columbia 30th Studio, New York, New York
