フランク: 交響曲&交響的変奏曲、ダンディ: フランス山人の歌による交響曲 / ユージン・オーマンディ
アナログLP時代の定番・名録音だったオーマンディの「オルガン付き」。フランクの交響曲はオーマンディの愛奏曲の一つで、SP～モノラル～ステレオと3種類の録音をソニー・クラシカルに残している。当盤の演奏は、その3度目となった1961年のステレオ録音で、鬱蒼としたフランクならではのオーケストレーションの魅力を、フィラデルフィア管の明るめの響きで描き出している点が魅力。オルガン的とされるフランクの厚みのある響きも見事に再現されている。フランスの名手ロベール・カザドシュと共演した交響的変奏曲とダンディの「フランス山人の歌による交響曲」は、ステレオ初期の1958年に録音されたもので、アナログLP時代の定番とされた名演。カザドシュの粋なピアニズムをおおらかに包み込む手腕は「合わせものの名手」として知られたオーマンディならではのもの。海外盤LP初出時のジャケット・デザイン使用。 ■録音年: 1961年2月5日、1958年11月16日 / 収録場所: フィラデルフィア、タウン・ホール、フィラデルフィア、ブロードウッド・ホテル
