[ヴァント生誕100年・没後10年記念DSDマスタリング・エディション] ヴァント生涯最後の、あまりにも美しい「白鳥の歌」2編。2001年10月から11月にかけて、ヴァントはシューベルトの交響曲第5番とブルックナーの「ロマンティック」で北ドイツ放送響のハンブルク定期を3回振った後、故郷ヴッパータールとフランクフルトへのツアーを行いました。そしてこれらがヴァントにとって生涯最後の演奏会となりました。当アルバムはそのハンブルク定期で収録されたもので、シューベルトの第5番は、ヴァントがあまり取り上げなかった交響曲ですが、独自のフレージングを織り交ぜながら、若書きならではの瑞々しい躍動感を見事に表出しています。「ロマンティック」は、ひたすら音楽に奉仕してきたヴァントの生涯最後を飾る大演奏。緻密さと自由さが絶妙に組み合わされ、巨匠の歩みを完結させるのです。
