「あの頃映画 the BEST 松竹ブルーレイ・コレクション」シリーズ第五弾! 昭和史に残る凄惨な大量殺戮事件を大胆に映画化! 横溝正史の小説『八つ墓村』のモデルとしても知られる「津山三十人殺し」が題材。監督は『実録・阿部定』(1975)『人妻集団暴行致死事件』(1978)など、異色の傑作を放ってきた鬼才・田中登。エロスと凄まじい暴力描写、未曾有の惨劇シーンが衝撃的で、劇場公開時には松竹映画でも稀なR指定を受けた作品。――まだ戦時下にあった昭和13年。山あいに数十戸が点在するだけの小さな村。村一番の秀才と誉めそやされていた青年(古尾谷雅人)は、兵士として国のために立派に戦うことこそが男としての生き方だと信じていた。ところが、結核と診断されてしまった彼はその望みを断たれる。あろうことか村人たちからもつまはじきにされる。自分が生まれ育った閉鎖的な村の、汚れきった血、汚れきった人間関係・・・。「皆様方よ、今に見ておれで御座居ますよ・・・」。ぎりぎりのところまで追いつめられ、狂気に駆り立てられた青年。二本の懐中電灯を鉢巻きに差し、改造銃と日本刀で武装し、銃口を、憎しみの刃を村人たちに突き付けた。そしてついに大量殺戮の火蓋が切られた! 彼が向かったのは、たった一人の戦場だったのである・・・。HDデジタルリマスター(2014)を使用。より高画質となった映像と、リニアPCMでオリジナル音声を収録。ジャケットデザインには劇場公開時のポスターアートを採用。クリアケースパッケージ仕様。
