The latest release in the King Crimson 50th anniversary series! The final album of the first-era King Crimson lineup with brass and woodwinds, originally released in 1971, returns in a lavish edition packed with a new 2026 mix including Dolby Atmos, the talked-about Elemental Mix, the Complete Recording Sessions, and more. "Sailors' Tales," released in 2017 as part of the 40th anniversary series, was the second best-selling title among the 40th anniversary boxes after "Road to Red." Nine years later, another chapter of the Islands story, focused on the making of the album "Islands," arrives on CD plus Blu-ray. Following the formula of the 50th anniversary series, this release again features a new 2026 mix by Steven Wilson and an Elemental Mix, David Singleton's imaginative reinterpretation, plus the recording session material captured at Island Studios and Command Studios in the summer of 1971, fully unveiled on Blu-ray. To bring out the album's dynamic contrast between intensity and calm, the CD portion again uses the SHM-CD format. The globally produced Blu-ray (audio only) 2026 mix comes complete with the 50th anniversary series' signature three pillars of high resolution audio: a Dolby Atmos mix, DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround, and 24/96 stereo, with the Elemental Mix and the recording session material also presented in 24/96 stereo. It also re-includes the 4-channel version of "Live at Summit Studios," which drew attention on "Sailors' Tales." Numerous additional recordings are also included, delivering an impressive volume once again this year. For the Japanese edition, the CD portion uses a domestically pressed SHM-CD while the Blu-ray uses the globally produced European pressing. As always, the artwork is Japan-exclusive, and this time it comes in a UK-edition-based cardboard sleeve, for the first time in a gatefold style with an extra cardboard sleeve (design subject to change). *This product goes on sale on a Friday, so delivery will be on or after the release date.
