テレビ朝日系24局ネットで2007年1月6日、7日二夜連続放送され、平均視聴率17.3%の高視聴率を記録した、新春ドラマスペシャル「白虎隊」をDVD化。本編ディスク2枚と特典ディスク1枚の3枚組DVD-BOXで登場!! 幕末・動乱の時代。徳川幕府を、武士道を守り抜くため、薩摩・長州を中心とする西軍(後の明治政府軍)との圧倒的な不利な戦いにあえて臨んだ会津藩。老若男女問わず死を賭して戦った彼らの中で、もっとも若い16、17歳の藩士で編成されたのが白虎隊だった。藩主・松平容保のため、会津のため、父のため、母のため、そして愛する人たちのため、一命をなげうって戦った隊士たち。そこには現代にまで語り継がれる悲劇が待ち受けていた・・・。 これまでにも映像化され、その悲劇が今なお語り継がれる会津・白虎隊。その隊士の一人で、途中仲間とはぐれ、悲劇の地・飯盛山にはたどりつけず生き抜いた酒井峰治と、峰治を深く愛するがゆえに厳しく接する母・しげを通して、短い生涯を誇り高く生き抜いた少年たちと、彼らを力強く見守り続けた白虎隊の母親たちのドラマを描く。 主人公となる白虎隊士・酒井峰治を演じるのは、時代劇初挑戦となるNEWS・山下智久。その峰治の親友で飯盛山で自刃した篠田儀三郎にKAT-TUN・田中聖。また、峰治を深く愛しながらも"立派に死ぬこと"を教えるため厳しく育てる母・しげに薬師丸ひろ子。激動の会津を守るために戦い続けた藩主・松平容保に東山紀之など、豪華キャストでお届け! 特典ディスクには、メイキング「少年たちの60日に密着 感動の舞台裏スペシャル」、未公開シーン集を収録。ブックレット「白虎隊」名場面コレクション(20P)封入。
