DVD第6巻リリース。士郎正宗のオリジナル原作。プロダクションI.G 20周年記念作品。監督は「serial experiments lain」で第2回文化庁メディア芸術祭優秀賞を受賞し海外でも評価の高い中村隆太郎。シリーズ構成、脚本は「serial experiments lain」や、「モノノ怪」など多方面で活躍する小中千昭。キャラクターデザインには、「地獄少女」で大ブレイクの岡真里子。主役には「ハリーポッター」(吹替)で話題の小野賢章、日本で人気トップを争う声優、福山潤、保志総一朗が脇を固める。この世界<現世>(うつしよ)には、電脳が発達する遙か昔より、違う世界が重なっている。<幽世>(かくりよ)へ自由に行き来する事が出来る様になった少年たちは、その世界<幽世>を冒険する事を通じて、そこが、<現世>、そして自分達の脳の中とも繋がっている事を発見していく――。ホラー・ファンタジーであり、SF。スピリチュアリズム的であり、物理哲学的。未知世界の冒険であり、脳の探求でもある。しかし何より、このシリーズは、少年記を描くものである。日本の原風景の様な、地方の小さな町を舞台に、等身大の少年達をリアリスティックな視点で見つめ、彼らの驚きや恐怖、そしてわくわくする様な感覚をヴィヴィッドに描いていく。
