To:Hana

From Korea to Asia, and then the world! A gem of a story told by Meaningful Stone, one of the most closely watched acts in the Korean indie scene! A crystalline soundscape where dream pop and indie folk intertwine, featuring a guest appearance by Jay Som, a leading US West Coast singer-songwriter! On their 2nd album "Angel Interview," released in 2024, Meaningful Stone ventured into new territory built on roaring guitars and an alternative rock sound; on this work, they unfold a crystalline dream pop and indie folk sound built on beautiful melodies, harmonies, and a comfortable band ensemble. Through a soft singing voice, the album expresses the process of being reborn into a new self while layering feelings of belief, hope, and parting. The opener, "To: Hana" (M1), is a dream pop number defined by gentle guitar and an expansive soundscape; the following "1+1=0" (M2) is an indie pop track on which Jay Som - a leading US West Coast indie singer-songwriter/producer - handled production, arrangement, composition, performance, and recording, resulting in a refreshing, buoyant, and comfortable sound where US indie and Korean indie cross over. "Summer, Summer, Summer" (M3) then offers up breezy indie pop that, true to its title, evokes a bittersweet summer feeling, while "Happiness is an angel with a serious face" (M4) is a hushed indie folk track incorporating acoustic guitar and mandolin. The album closes with the buoyant indie rock number "Seoul Station" (M5), rounding things off like a single letter that echoes the album's title, "To: Hana". The world Meaningful Stone has built up until now evolves even further here, resulting in a work that has been distilled into a global sound resonating not only with the Korean and Japanese indie scenes but with the indie scenes of North America and Europe as well.
