Bach's Unaccompanied Suites ( ODE-1241 ) and Biber's "Rosary Sonatas" ( ODE-1243 ), but this time she has tackled the complete Brahms violin sonatas. This time, the period instruments of Brahms' era are used to reproduce the full range of sounds from that period. Accompaniment is provided by the Finnish player Hakkila, who graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 2005 and is a virtuoso fortepianoist. In addition to the three sonatas, this album also includes arrangements of three songs related to each sonata, which are also played with great care.

フィンランドを代表するバロック・ヴァイオリン奏者カーキネン=ピルク。以前J.S.バッハの無伴奏組曲(ODE-1241)やビーバーの「ロザリオのソナタ」(ODE-1243)で端正な演奏を披露していましたが、今作ではブラームスのヴァイオリン・ソナタ全集に取り組みました。今回はブラームス時代のピリオド楽器を用い、当時の響きを余すことなく再現しています。伴奏を担当しているのは同じくフィンランドの奏者ハッキラ。2005年にシベリウス・アカデミーを卒業後、フォルテピアノの名手として活躍しています。このアルバムでは3曲のソナタの他に、各々のソナタに関連する3つの歌曲を編曲した版も収録されており、こちらも心のこもった演奏を聴くことができます。
