Maki-e is a technique representative of lacquer art uniquely developed by Japan and has been practiced since the Nara period about 1200 years ago. It is said this maki-e method is what made the people of Western Europe comprehend Japanese art and cultural power at a world fair held in Paris in the 19th century. A thin brush is used to draw on the surface of a vessel with lacquer and gold powder is sprinkled on top before the lacquer hardens to express the pattern.

The ideal size brush to apply loose powder with a fast application to the whole face. The soft natural bristles easily glide over and highlight smaller areas such as the cheeks, jaw line, forehead and nose for a natural finish.
