膨大なレパートリーを全て暗譜で指揮することでも知られ、「トスカニーニの後継」とも称されたマエストロ・サンティ (1931-2020)。特にオペラ指揮者として高い人気を誇った彼が、2009年と2010年に来日しNHK交響楽団を指揮した数少ないオーケストラワークスを今回リマスター。緻密かつダイナミックなスケール感を持った鮮やかなタクトで聴く名作二題。サンティはオーケストラの配置にもこだわりがあり、下手に第1ヴァイオリン、上手に第2ヴァイオリンを配置、第1ヴァイオリンとチェロの後方にコントラバスが並ぶ対向配置を採用していた。このことにより、旋律の掛け合いや、正面後方からの低音楽器の響きなど、より立体的な音場を得る事に効果があった。
