A very different approach by SA, it doesn't sound like the previous albums with lightning fast doublebass and superfast guitarsolos. With that said, you've probably already figured out that this album is a bit slower than its predecessors. This new approach doesn't sound like pure power metal but more like power metal with flashes of progressive metal, a mix if you like, but it's still leaning toward power. As a Sonata Arctica fan, I was disappointed at first but this album grows on you if you give it a second or third chance. There are a few tracks on there that made me go "what were they thinking?" but overall it's a solid release. My favourite tracks: 1,2,4,6

Ugh, hard to even write anything at all. Music is changed, lyrics not much though. Few more progressive maybe than ever before, but in some very strange way not much interesting to me. I have to say that maybe I still have not listened enough, but anyway. Hopefully band receives success all around the globe and will come with something again. Yet another surprise by then?
To say that I really like this album would be a complete understatement. I dislike comparing Sonata Arctica's works simply because I think they stand perfectly well on their own. So I refuse to say that I think this album is better or worse in comparison to Reckoning Night, or any of the others. I really don't have a favourite track from this cd, because I can't pick one. But I do have one grip with "My Dream's But A Drop Of Fuel For A Nightmare"... Geez, I hate writing that song title down... Be a little less verbose next time Tony. Please? It's a very well rounded album and I can't find anything about it that I dislike, which can only be a positive thing. Some people may feel that this album lacks the frenetic pace of "Ecliptica" and perhaps that's correct, but I don't think that detracts anything from "Unia". So if anyone is reading this review and perhaps experiencing any sort of hesitation about purchasing this CD, ignore it! Buy this cd now!
