JOYRIDE

JOYRIDE is the second Home Made Kazoku single for their sophomore release Musication, containing three songs and an instrumental version of the song JOYRIDE. The title track is a fun romp through funk, hip-hop, and even a little dancehall. The song kicks off with a great acoustic guitar riff, immediately getting you excited about what is to come. Both Micro and Kuro have some great parts in the verses, and the chorus is irresistably catchy. The second track, Manabi no Mado, is a very chill and laid-back ballad. The whole song is calm and provides pleasant, melodic relief from the chaotic fun that was JOYRIDE. With the exception of the odd bridge, the song keeps the same mood throughout. As far as HMK slow songs go, it's one of my favorites. Track three, Life Work?!, is an excellent song that is fun simply for the sake of being fun. It kicks off with a ringing phone, and basically consists of Micro and Kuro playing off each other; at times it sounds like they are improvising. The "oh my god!" section is my favorite part of the whole single. JOYRIDE is yet another excellent offering from HMK that demonstrates their style perfectly with three quite different songs. Two thumbs up!
