2017年10月29日、ザ・シンフォニーホールで行われた、オオサカ・シオン・ウインド・オーケストラ第118回定期演奏会のライヴ録音。指揮は、同年4月よりシオン正指揮者に就任した西村友。"ダンスの競演"をテーマに、前半ではスミスの「華麗なる舞曲」とスパークの「ダンス・ムーヴメント」、そして後半では西村友の新たな編曲により、ラフマニノフ最後の大作「交響的舞曲」が採り上げられた。スミスやスパークの吹奏楽オリジナル作品ではその華やかな技巧・多彩なサウンドによるダンス音楽を、そして管弦楽からのアレンジであるラフマニノフ作品からは作曲者の心の葛藤を綴ったダンス音楽を、存分に楽しめる。
