Live at Pit-inn Tokyo. Japan. 8. 8. 1988 [Limited Release]

[Machine Translation] Sun Ra Arkestra Live in Japan! The world premiere of the complete recording from the master tape at the Shinjuku Pit Inn, including the first-ever mastering of all the tracks! In the 80's, Sun Ra Arkestra was actively touring the world, and after finishing the U.S. and Europe tour in the spring of 1988, they came to Japan for the first time on July 30, at the age of 74. [The band toured Kanagawa Yomiuri Land, Toyama, Fukuoka, and Osaka Expo '70 Commemorative Park with "Live Under the Sky," and after a series of daily performances at the Shibuya Quattro, the final performance of the tour was on August 8 at the Shinjuku Pit Inn club. This Japan tour featured big band jazz, including standard tunes, with a surprisingly serviceable performance from start to finish. But the intricate arrangements, the virtuosity of each player, and the telepathic unity of the band made this a monumental live performance, as if in its heyday, when Sun Ra, the "mythical scientist of sound," was at his most mysterious and space music through his sound vibrations.
