円谷プロ創立50周年記念 復刻円谷TVドラマライブラリー。「科学を悪用して犯罪を犯す者」と「正義と科学を守る者」との対決を描く怪奇犯罪ドラマ! DVD-BOX上巻。――ウルトラマンシリーズなどで知られる円谷プロが1968年、『ウルトラセブン』の後番組として製作した空想科学TVドラマの名作『怪奇大作戦』。警察も手に負えないような、難事件・怪事件を科学の力で解決するSRI(科学捜査研究所)の活躍を描いた物語である。円谷英二の監修のもと、「夜の町で次々と人間が溶ける怪事件」、「人間を殺し続けるフランス人形」、「人体実験によって冷凍人間になってしまった男」など、数々の猟奇的で怪奇な出来事や事件を描き、特異な映像でファンを魅了する実相寺昭雄や飯島敏宏など敏腕ディレクターが演出で辣腕を揮った。夜7時台の番組ながら、内容はむしろ大人向けともいえ、社会に疑問を投げかけるような重いテーマで人気を博し、平均視聴率は22.0%! そのクオリティの高さからも、いまだ根強いファンを持つ作品である。第1話～第13話を収録。DVD解説書(16P)、ボーナスディスク(「人喰い蛾」ファーストプレビュー版/ラッシュフィルム)封入。(以上予定)
